CAFETERIA RULES
These rules apply during ALL rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances from this date forwards. ALL students in the cast and crew will abide by these rules.
Respect ALL adults
We will be having a number of adults helping out in various capacities while we are in the cafeteria, as well as regular staff like the custodians. You will treat them ALL with the same respect you show the directors or your teachers. If an adult asks you to do something, you will do it immediately. If there is a conflict or misunderstanding, we will resolve it later.
Remember, without the parent volunteers we literally would not be able to put on this show. Show them your appreciation by being courteous and respectful.
Quiet in cafeteria
Volume levels in the cafeteria should be kept similar to those in the auditorium during rehearsals. Talking is fine; shouting/screaming/shrieking is not. You must be able to hear announcements from the adults and the runners, and in addition the audience CAN hear you in the cafeteria if the noise gets too high.
Adults (either teachers or parent chaperones) have the right to invoke SILENCE in the cafeteria for whatever amount of time they feel appropriate if you cannot maintain a reasonable volume.
SILENT in halls
There is absolutely no talking by cast members in the halls or backstage during a performance. NONE.
Bathroom/Locker Room Use
No one may leave the cafeteria without permission from the adults on duty. You must have a pass from the adults to use the bathroom. Students will be allowed to use the boys/girls locker rooms to change costumes but must return to the cafeteria immediately. You may NOT leave your items in the locker room for any length of time. Put everything back in your costume box and take it with you.
Food
You may bring a healthy, non-messy snack, especially as rehearsals start to go later. Clear liquids (i.e. water) only, same as during the school day. Nothing drippy, saucy, or red! This applies even if you are not in costume. If an adult tells you that your food is not acceptable because it breaks one of these rules, their word is final.
ALL FOOD MUST BE NUT FREE. There are no exceptions.
If you make a mess, you are responsible for cleaning it! There are trash cans in the cafeteria for crumbs and wrappers.
We would prefer if you bring your snack with you at the start of rehearsal. However, if your parents are bringing you food, we ask the following:
Electronics policy
The policy for devices and Chromebooks remains the same in the cafeteria as in the auditorium. As a reminder:
Do not touch anyone else's costumes, makeup, possessions
“Organized chaos” is the default setting once we are in the cafeteria. Please make an effort to keep track of your personal belongings as well as your costumes; accessories, and makeup and do not let them spread all over the tables and floor. With that said, DO NOT touch, move, “borrow,” or otherwise interfere with anyone else’s belongings without permission.
No leaving the Drama area
Students are NOT ALLOWED OUTSIDE during rehearsal. You cannot use the back cafeteria door to run outside to meet your parents or for any other reason. Students are not allowed out of the drama area (the locker rooms, lobby, back hallway, auditorium, cafeteria, and backstage) for any reason.
No Costumes in lobby
There will be screens set up outside the cafeteria during dress rehearsals and performances. Students in costume are not allowed on the other side of the screens.
CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES....
No one is allowed to leave after a rehearsal or performance until the cafeteria and locker rooms are clean. This means that:
ADULT CHAPERONES ARE THE FINAL AUTHORITY. They may report any behavior issues back to the directors, who will take disciplinary action as appropriate.

We would prefer if you bring your snack with you at the start of rehearsal. However, if your parents are bringing you food, we ask the following:
- Have them come to the back cafeteria door (near the glamourous dumpsters)
- They must get out of the car and come to the door
- Students MAY NOT open the outside door. If you see a parent at the door, notify a chaperone and they will open it.
- Please make sure your parents understand these rules and know that they may have to wait a few moments for someone to let them in. Again, it is probably simplest for you to pack an extra sandwich or snack in the morning and bring it to school with you.
- NO STUDENT MAY ORDER DELIVERY/UBER EATS/GRUB-HUB/ETC.
Electronics policy
The policy for devices and Chromebooks remains the same in the cafeteria as in the auditorium. As a reminder:
- When an adult or runner is talking to you (this includes general addresses to the group), your phone is off and your Chromebook is closed
- No headphones or earbuds (unless you need it for homework); no audible videos or music. This helps to ensure that you are able to hear all important announcements.
- NO PHONES ONSTAGE OR BACKSTAGE. Your phone must stay in the cafeteria at all times.
- Try to avoid calls if possible - make arrangements for rides in advance! If you need to make a call, please do so quietly and make the call as quick as possible.
- Do not let your device become a disruption.

CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES....
No one is allowed to leave after a rehearsal or performance until the cafeteria and locker rooms are clean. This means that:
- All costumes have been returned to the racks or put back into your costume boxes
- All makeup is in your costume box
- Boxes are stacked NEATLY in the back hallway
- Microphones are returned to the sound crew
- Tables are wiped down
- ALL garbage has been thrown away. Trash cans will be placed in front of the doors and we ask every student to throw away at least one piece of trash on their way out.
- Take all your belongings with you (including any forms, notices, or other papers to be sent home)
- Check the floor around your table for stray bobby pins, tissues, hangers, safety pins, makeup, papers, etc.
- Any unclaimed belongings will be put onto a single “lost and found” table
ADULT CHAPERONES ARE THE FINAL AUTHORITY. They may report any behavior issues back to the directors, who will take disciplinary action as appropriate.
